This Cute Mom Attempted A Meme And Twitter Can't Get Enough
The internet is super proud of “Memer Mom” and her adorable solar eclipse meme.
The solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, was a pretty big deal for most Americans. It was the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse that our nation’s seen in nearly 100 years, and we’re not likely to forget it anytime soon. This is perhaps especially true now that the talents of “Memer Mom” (also known as Michelle) have been discovered.
On the evening of the solar eclipse, Twitter user @Junglefushimi posted her mom’s adorable attempt at an eclipse meme with the caption: “My mom made this meme, don’t let her down.”
Twitter, of course, delivered. As of this writing, the tweet has received over 70,000 retweets and 160,000 likes since Monday night.
Of course, this is because the meme is actually kind of funny. Memer Mom used a still image of James Marsden’s X-Men character, Cyclops, sporting the protective visor he always wears to keep good folks from experiencing the burning realness of his superhuman eyeballs. Memer Mom then overlaid the following hilarious text, effectively winning over nerdy hearts everywhere:
"When you wear special glasses to protect the Eclipse from your eyes."
So sincere. So cute. What might be even cuter, though, is the fact that Memer Mom was legitimately worried her beloved meme might not go viral because she didn’t sign her name to it.
In the now-pinned tweet debuting Memer Mom’s masterpiece, @Junglefushimi shared screenshots of her and Michelle’s text conversation from the evening of the eclipse. Memer Mom’s text messages read:
"I made that meme."
"I hope it goes viral even though I didn’t put my name on it lol."
Clearly, Memer Mom had nothing to worry about—and we all have Twitter and @Junglefushimi to thank for that.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of her adorable work in the near future, but in the meantime, you should definitely check out Memer Mom on Instagram.
