Meet the Girlbosses: Alicia & Natasha // Aeline

Hey Girlbosses! Please introduce yourself and fill us in on your project.

We are Alicia Rhodes and Natasha Endrei, the co-founders of Aeline, LLC. After graduating from FIDM in Los Angeles, CA and with our experience working in the fashion industry, we utilized all of our knowledge and industry experience and created a product called Pliable Pattern. Pliable Pattern is a gridded fabric that allows the user to draft a pattern directly onto it, and can use that same pattern and material from start to finish. It enables someone to draft their pattern, pin to a model form, sew it up, make alterations, and deconstruct to have a flat pattern again. With such a multifunctional product it allows designers to push their creative limits, while saving them time and money - resulting in a better final fit to their design.

Aeline was founded in 2014, spurred on by our idea of Pliable Pattern. In 2014 we not only came up with our initial idea, conducted research and filed for our business, we also filed a patent for our invention and selected the best vendor for us to partner with to produce the highest quality product.

In 2015 so far we have continued to build our e-commerce website and grow our social media followings organically. We placed the order for our first run of production, started pre-order listings on our website, and are looking to expand our product offering by the end of the year and really revolutionize how people see patternmaking.

How will the GIRLBOSS Foundation grant help you achieve your goals?

Receiving the GIRLBOSS Foundation grant is an incredible honor and we are so excited! It is going to help us achieve our goals by providing the means for more production, costs for shipping to the customer, gifting samples, improving our e-commerce platform and expanding into new product development.

What's your ultimate dream?

Our ultimate dream would be for Aeline to be a successful company providing a wide variety of quality products to our customer, while staying true to our beliefs and business practices.

And lastly, your favorite piece of advice from the #GIRLBOSS book - and why?!

“Create your own job. Become the master of what you do. Fully immerse yourself in your culture. Be humble: You are never above having to pack boxes. Never forget where you came from. And always be polite. Good old-fashioned manners can get you very far.”

We really feel this quote from the book embodies everything we believe and stand for as individuals, and strive for in our company. It's a great reminder and motivator along the journey to keep close through all the successes and failures.

Stay tuned to to follow Alicia and Natasha's GIRLBOSS journey!
